June 21, 2010 – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

O’FALLON, MO- Go to any Irrigation Distributor, anywhere across the United States, and ask for a black connector.  Each time, you can be guaranteed that it will be a quality DryConn® Waterproof Connector.  That’s because King Innovation has been granted the black color trademark for all underground irrigation and landscape lighting waterproof connectors.

After over four years of working closely with trademark attorneys, the day has finally come when black means King, all the time.  President Frank Vlasaty notes, “It’s extremely rewarding for me to know that irrigation and landscape lighting professionals recognize the black waterproof connector from King as the standard for quality in waterproofing splices.  We are all very excited to have been granted this legal recognition, and are proud to have the King name behind this core industry product.”

This is an exciting time for King, and all of the customers we service in the irrigation and landscape lighting channels.  Trademarking the color black for our Black Series of waterproof connectors lets our customers know that they have protection from inferior knockoffs and counterfeit products.  Distributors and Contractors alike will now be assured that they are using a genuine King Innovation DryConn connector product when performing irrigation and landscape lighting projects.

DryConn® original Black Series has become known in the industry as quality in waterproof irrigation connectors.  Connectors are UL 486D Listed, rated 600V, and pre-filled with dielectric silicone sealant to tightly seal splices exposed to condensation, water vapors, or dust.  Black Series Connectors are a Contractor’s first choice for irrigation installation and repairs, or for use in landscape lighting systems.  The line includes Black/White, Black/Gray and Black/Blue connectors, which together cover a variety of wire combinations from #22 up to #6 AWG.

Corned Beef and Cabbage…Sandwich?

March 8, 2010 by allison

I gotta say Saint Patrick’s day is the single most undervalued holiday.  Everyone loves corned beef and cabbage, potatoes and a good cold beer.  Not to mention, Irish American is the second largest ancestral group in all of the United States with just under thirty seven million members.

I thought this March I would try a new twist on a traditional favorite and make my corned beef and cabbage into a grilled sandwich.  It was excellent…and easy to pack for lunch or a meal on the go.  Try out the recipe below, and let us know how you liked it!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups cabbage, finely shredded
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon horseradish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 6 slices marbled rye bread
  • 6 slices canned corn beef or leftover corned beef
  • sliced Swiss cheese
  • butter for grilling sandwiches

Directions

  • Blanch cabbage in lightly salted, boiling water about 1-2 minutes.
  • Drain well, spread out on paper towel to get rid of extra moisture.
  • Mix cabbage with mayo, horseradish and caraway seeds.
  • Butter outside of 3 pieces of bread, place on griddle on medium heat.
  • Spread mustard on inside of each slice.  Top with about 1/4 cup cabbage mixture, slices of corned beef, and slices of Swiss cheese.
  • Top each sandwich with 2nd slice of bread, butter the top.
  • Grill on griddle (or Panini press) until browned (3-4 minutes).
  • Flip and grill other side, until browned and cheese is melted.

And the Winner is….Ice Hockey

It’s that time again when we can’t help but get drawn in, adrenaline pumping from the comfort of our couches. Time to watch athletes from all over the world jump, slide and skate their hardest…all hoping for that coveted medal. That’s right, it’s Winter Olympics time. Four years ago in Torino a nation looked on as Sasha Cohen tumbled her way into a silver medal, Apollo Ohno impressed us all with a gold, and the United States came in second to Germany in the medal count. This year, it’s on to Vancouver for what’s sure to be some great sports.

King Employees are buzzing with the excitement of the 21st Winter Olympic Games. They were asked, “What is your favorite Winter Olympic Sport?” Here are the results:

Ice Hockey came in 1st with 36% of the vote. Downhill Skiing and Ski Jumping tied for 2nd place, each with 18% votes. Finally, 3rd place was shared between Bobsled, Figure Skating, and Snowboarding, each with 9%. Sorry Apollo…no speed skating fans here! Maybe in 2014 someone will have a change of heart…

Love is in the Air…

Check out these great Valentine’s Day gift ideas from our King Innovation employees!

It’s all about the box, the bow, and the bag.

Nothing says “I love you” like heart shaped sunny side up eggs and heart shaped pancakes on Valentine’s Day morning.  Try using strawberry milk and frozen strawberries in the pancake batter to make them pink!

My husband once gave me a furry toilet seat cover because I was always complaining about it being cold!

A handwritten letter was the best (and most inexpensive) gift I have ever received from my wife on Valentine’s Day.  Just a little something to remind me how much she cares!

Any single’s out there?  The best part about Valentine’s Day is 50% off chocolate the day after!  I stock up every year on February 15th; truffles, caramels, vanilla cremes, milk, dark, mint…you can’t beat it!

I can never go wrong with a gift certificate to the spa.  She gets to spend some time getting pampered…and some time away from me!

Forget live roses that are going to die off in a week!  My husband got me glass roses a few years back, and they have been on my desk ever since.  It’s a little something to remind me of him during my busy day, and years later they still look great!

Everybody needs a snuggie.  If she doesn’t have one, buy one.  If she already has one, buy her one in leopard print.

Feel the Torque: Gorilla Nuts™ Transform Electrical Connections

JANUARY 26, 2010 – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

O’FALLON, MO – The way you see, feel, and experience electrical connections will never be the same; Gorilla Nuts™ has raised connector technology to a whole new platform.  With a cushion grip, superior torque and flexibility, and coverage of all red/yellow wire combinations, this is one beast of a connector.

Gorilla Nuts are designed with a unique feel, equipped with over-molded material that creates a distinctive cushion sensation and a flexible grip.  But don’t be fooled by the soft shell, this is one tough nut.  A Torque Performance Exterior (TPE) means that Gorilla Nuts out-perform comparable wire connectors when it comes to grip and torque.

King engineers knew that despite the outstanding torque and feel of Gorilla Nuts, the integrity of connections is not something Contractors could compromise.  That is why they call us King Innovation.  Gorilla Nuts’ patented design is also the first to feature Sharp Wire Technology™ (SWT) combined with our dual-performing WorkSkirt™.  Sharp Wire Technology means that the spring is square cut and expertly designed, using a maximum edge for the most secure connections.  The WorkSkirt not only protects over-stripped wires, but also allows Gorilla Nuts the flexibility to fit into tight spaces.

King Innovation’s President, Frank Vlasaty, is excited about Gorilla Nuts’ potential.  He notes, “Through extensive market research and direct feedback from Electricians, we have come up with an innovative product that makes life easier.  In side by side comparisons to other connectors on the market, virtually everyone chose Gorilla Nuts…we believe the Gorilla Nut connector will revolutionize the twist on wire connector market.”

Gorilla Nuts cover the entire red/yellow wire range for both solid and stranded wire, and easily fit 5 #12s.  So if profitability and inventory reduction are your goals, Gorilla Nuts make it easy; it’s the only connector you will need for the job.

New! GTSR™ Grease Tube w/Yellow Nut

January 25, 2010 by allison

DryConn® GTSR combines a yellow nut with a grease tube for waterproof connections.  Splice wires with the UL Listed, flame retardant nut.  Next, insert the splice into a tube filled with petroleum grease that never hardens.  The grease keeps connections waterproof and corrosion proof, while the lid and long tube provide strain relief to help maintain secure splices.   Manufacturer approved for direct bury, GTSR does not require a junction box for use in underground irrigation applications.  It is also well suited for low voltage landscape lighting systems up to 50V.  The yellow nut covers a variety of wire combinations between #18 – #10 AWG.  Be sure to check out our Where to Buy feature to locate your nearest Distributor.
