Quality System Coordinator / Engineering Technician

SUMMARY:
Provides direction, coordinates and performs duties related to the quality management system, safety program and engineering.  Maintains document control which includes but not limited to, management of all master controlled documents, coordinating the engineering change process, and maintaining quality management system databases.  Authors engineering changes as required.  Produces reports as required for management review of quality system. Develops auditing schedule and performs as required. Coordinates/maintains preventative/corrective action system.  Responsible for continued development and maintenance of OSHA compliant safety program and resolving compliance issues. Develops training material and provides quality and safety compliance training.  

Conducts engineering testing / experiments, set-up of equipment, collects/ analyzes data, inspects parts, calculates/records results.  Produces technical documentation.  Conducts product testing.  Analyzes/ solves problems in manufacturing; identifies/implements improvements.   Applies engineering principles and practices to assignments in new product development and manufacturing/ sustaining engineering.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works within the Company’s Mission and Core Value statements.
Supports and participates in the successful implementation of the Company’s strategic plan.
Complies with all ISO quality requirements.
Provides direction, coordinates, trains, and as needed, perform duties related to quality management system and OSHA compliance.
Provides input and recommendations on quality management system and processes through the use of statistical techniques. Develop trending data related to customer feedback.
Develops and maintains databases as required
Coordinates and maintains preventative/corrective action system.
Reviews, implements action and approves as required.
Establishes / maintains schedule, trains and performs internal audits and follow-up audits as required. 
Addresses observations through written justification or initiating engineering changes.
Addresses findings by initiating corrective actions. 
Participates in and approves final review and disposition of audits. 
Meets to discuss findings with auditors.
Facilitates and coordinates engineering change process; authors engineering changes as required.
Creates work instructions as required.

Establishing and maintaining safety committee.

CONTACT WITH OTHERS:
Internal contact with all associates.   Limited external contact with vendors, consultants and regulatory agencies. 

DECISION MAKING:
Interprets standards and develops plans and schedules to meet quality and regulatory requirements.  
Identifies and implements appropriate processes.
Determines appropriate application of ISO requirements.
Requires the ability to analyze problems and propose solutions.
Must be able to make decisions to prioritize tasks. 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED.
General supervision received from Technical Director.  Supervision of others is not applicable to this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor degree in Quality or Engineering preferred.
Experience with ISO 9000 documentation requirements.
Experience with establishing databases and database management.
PC-based computing experience (word processing-Word, spreadsheet-Excel, Access,
Experience developing procedures helpful.
Self starter who can manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential.
Knowledge of Safety compliance (OSHA) regulations.
Experience in various lab-testing processes for evaluation of mechanical/ electrical product characteristics.
Able to produce technical documentation including , test results, standard operating procedures, inspection plans, etc.
Demonstrates manual dexterity necessary to operate specialized measurement and test equipment, microscopes, comparators, and various hand and power tools.
Physically capable of working in laboratory and manufacturing environment, including assignments which require standing for extended periods, and periodically lifting up to 50 Lbs.
